Both resorts are tucked between the sea and mountains - the Sierra Cabrera mountains for Mojacar, and the Sierra De Gador mountains for Roquetas. Mojacar began life as a hilltop village with narrow streets and whitewashed houses, although now you'll find it has spread to the coast.
The capital, Almeria, is dominated by an ancient Moorish fortress.
