Garrucha is a picturesque seaport
where many aquatic sports, in particular underwater
fishing, can be practiced. The castle of Garrucha, of
Jesús Nazareno or of San Ramón can be
found on the same beach.
The origin of the current city dates back to the 16th
century, founded by a group of fishermen, who protected
themselves from possible pirate attacks by constructing
a tower. Today this fishing port is the second most
important in the province. Fishing provides its main
source of income, because of the abundance of fish and
other seafood in the area. They also construct both
fishing and recreational boats.
