When we took up the challenge of creating Palm Golf, we knew from the very beginning of our duty to its environment. How could we ignore it is atop one of the highest hills in the golf course, with those open vistas onto the citrus orchards and their colour? Hence, the stepped array, cuddled up to the slope so that the landscape is visible from each and every house.
Walls mark the plots in their fancy, and gracefully draw the streets. Walls made with the stones taken from that same ground as the building works went. As returning to the earth what was hers, and thus blending with the surroundings.
The houses stand smart and elegant, proudly dressed in natural stone. Their ample windows opening their “Mallorquina” blinds like eyes to the view. The roofs of Alicantine ceramic tiles. Independent, all alike, but also different; each one with a touch of personality and class that makes it unique.
Their spacious terraces and solarium face up to the sun, shaded by a pergola of treated wood, and paved with excellent ceramic floors, very hard and non-slip. An ideal place to enjoy the sun in the day or dine in the evening, close to the kitchen and with easy access.
We get into the house at the ground floor, and we see a comfortable parking place for two cars and an ample area with many uses. To get to the upper floors we find a beautiful staircase covered with marble, and a small lift that -for the sake of comfort- we take to go up.
On the first floor, what immediately catches the eye is how much natural light is let in by the large windows almost all around; brightness added to by the luminous first class marble covering the whole floor. This has clearly been designed as “Daytime Area”, to take full advantage of the more than 300 sunny days a year which is the average for this Mediterranean region. This area is kept apart from the privacy of the bedrooms. We also see a bathroom complete with the most modern furnishings.
In the kitchen we find it lacks nothing; very comfortable, with everything at hand. At the same time modern and equipped with wooden furniture of warm colours, the upper cupboards as well as the drawers. The worktop is finely crafted in granite, as is the useful counter between kitchen and dining room. There’s a stainless steel sink, a practical cupboard above it, and a central counter suitable for breakfasts and quick suppers. We also have room to fit a dishwasher under the worktop.
In the living-dining room we are again pleasantly surprised by the light available and by the smooth walls without shadows. The living and dining areas are clearly defined by a fireplace covered with stones which invites contemplation, nearness. And on getting to the window we are short of words to describe the feeling of looking at the orchard with orange trees at the foot of the hill.
On the second floor, that we reach through the same marble staircase, we see that something is different. It’s clear that this is the “Night Time Area”. The wooden floors offer a warmness that invites to go barefoot, and in entering the bedrooms we appreciate the sizeable built-in closets of wooden doors. Not to mention the beautiful bathroom, all lined in lovely marble, floor and walls; bright and well aired as it looks out on the exterior.
When you come out, from the second floor, green is all around; we are in the garden, and again find the stone walls and a well kept grass. But that’s not all; now we understand the complex’s name, we not only see the palm trees decorating the streets; we actually have one in our garden. It’s ours. And what can seem just beautiful, is also a responsibility. As you may know, Elche’s palm gardens and parks have been declared Heritage of Mankind. And this palm tree has been grown by ourselves in Elche till it reached the height and age to be transplanted to your garden.
