THE
COUNTRY OF THE WEST
In the sombre, mysterious light of the Atlantic,
at the western end of Europe, there is a green
country facing the ocean. It was here the Greeks
situated the end of the Ancient World and where
Homer said that the sun completed its circle,
later to reappear in the East with the new day.
Located in the south of the Celtic Sea, in the
north of the Mediterranean area, Galicia has forged
a culture in the crossroads of these two worlds.
In the north of Portugal, in the north-west of
Spain, there is a small country – barely
three hours by car from north to south –
brimming with contrasts and surprises at every
turn in the road; we Galicians like to say that
every house is a world, that every stone has a
history and that in every plant there is a natural
space. This is a country with an endless stock
of experiences.
